The Uncertainty of DEI Programs in Schools & Colleges
Our community and innovation is needed now more than ever
Schools & Colleges are left with the decision to eliminate their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs or lose federal funding.
This would jeopardize programs such as;
🔺 First-Generation Student Support Programs
🔺 Culture Centers
🔺 "DEI specific" Grants and Scholarships
🔺 Bridge and Summer Prep Programs
and more....
The future feels so uneasy. However, we must continue our efforts and keep supporting + providing resources to our students through the power of community. Which you can do through social media, blogs, building tech & media companies, community center or virtual gatherings and much more.
Every single one of you has something that can contribute to the success of our first-gen, Latina/o/e, and overall minority students.
Here is how I and Cafecito con Estrellita are working day and night to deliver content and resources for our community:
🔺 I secured an agent for representation to publish my Latina College Book.
🔺 Cafecito con Estrellita, has a low cost membership program catered to supporting first-gen students + graduates, towards next steps. We have students who secured careers in research and the education sector, as well as received acceptance letters to Master's and Doctoral programs.
🔺 The CCE podcast has over 100+ episodes catered towards supporting first-gen students + graduates on school and career advice.
🔺The CCE YouTube channel is delivering content multiple times a month to support first-gen.
🔺 The CCE social media pages are constantly pushing out content on a weekly basis, because nuestra gente play a huge part in our WHY.
I hope this content piece can serve as a beacon of inspiration for you all. We can't give up, poco a poco we will get there.
